The Atlantic

Contributed to TheAtlantic.com, writing about sustainability, business, and environmental policy.

Around 2010 I started writing for TheAtlantic.com, mostly about the places where sustainability, business, and technology run into each other.

Writing for a general audience is a useful discipline. You cannot hide behind jargon or assume the reader already cares; you have to make the argument earn its place. A lot of what I was working through in those years — how markets shape behavior, why corporate scale matters, where environmental progress actually comes from — got sharper because I had to explain it plainly to people who had not spent their careers inside the movement.

It was also a bridge between the corporate sustainability work and the thinking that became 'Strategy for Sustainability.' The page was a good place to test ideas in public before they hardened into anything more permanent.
