Act Now Productions

A television production company founded in 2001 that produced the environmental investigative series 'The Thin Green Line' and worked with major artists. The company was sold to Publicis Groupe/Saatchi & Saatchi in 2007, with a logo designed by Shepard Fairey.

After the Sierra Club, I wanted to reach people who would never join an environmental group but would happily watch a good show. In 2001 I started Act Now Productions to make environmental media that did not feel like homework.

The flagship was 'The Thin Green Line,' an investigative newsmagazine for the Outdoor Life Network. We tried to treat environmental stories the way a good news program treats any beat: with reporting, characters, and stakes, rather than lectures.

We also worked with musicians who could carry a message to audiences we could never reach on our own, including the Beastie Boys, Pearl Jam, and Alanis Morissette. The artist Shepard Fairey designed our logo.
